Make it truly theirs
More than their name in a book. Their world goes into their First Day of School Book — then you edit the words and the illustrations until it is right.
Their name appears naturally throughout the story — in the telling, not dropped into a gap left for it.
The photo you upload becomes an illustrated character they can recognize, drawn the same way from cover to final page.
The things they love this year become real moments in the adventure, rather than a list of traits.
They are the main character — the one who solves it, helps and makes the big moment happen.
Change the words, ask for different illustrations and keep adjusting every page until it reads the way you want. You approve the book before anything is printed.
Simple from start to finish

Their name and age, who does drop-off, your special goodbye, and the things they're really into.

Your child alone, or with the grown-up who takes them to school. We illustrate your child on every page — a keepsake that actually looks like them.

The story, simply explained
The whole book is the day itself, in order — including the part everyone is actually worried about.
Waking up, getting into the uniform, the bag by the door — the ordinary half-hour before the thing that has been coming for weeks.
The hardest page is the goodbye, told with your family's own way of doing it. Then a teacher is there, and the day turns out to be fine.
It ends with your child and whoever collects them walking away from school together, the first day behind them.
Who is in the story
Choose who appears in their First Day of School Book. You can add their photos in the next step.

Make your child the star of their very own personalized storybook. Their name, photo, and favorite things inspire beautiful custom illustrations throughout the book.

Create a personalized storybook featuring your child and their loved ones. Add photos of parents, grandparents, or siblings so they can appear alongside your child on some pages.
Why families choose it
From the backpack by the door to the proud pickup — your child watches themself walk through every step of the school day before the real thing.
Your special goodbye, their school, how they go home, the things they love right now — woven through the story so it's theirs, not a template.

Helpful answers
It is for a child about to start preschool, pre-K, nursery or kindergarten — roughly 3 to 6 — and especially for one who is nervous about it. It is usually bought by a parent or grandparent to read in the weeks before the first day. Seeing themselves do the thing before they do it is the point: the book walks through the goodbye, the classroom and the pick-up so none of it is a surprise.
Your child’s name, their school or class name if you know it, your real goodbye ritual — the three kisses, the special handshake, the window wave — the things they love right now, and one of three editions: Explorer, Friendship or Affirmation. Putting your actual goodbye in the book is what makes it work on the morning. It turns a page they recognize into something they can do — which is also why it is worth ordering two to three weeks ahead, so you can read it nightly in the run-up rather than handing it over on the day.
The character is generated from the photo you upload and kept consistent on the cover and every page, so it is the same child throughout rather than a slightly different one each time. A clear, front-facing photo gives the closest likeness. You see the book before you pay and can redraw any page.
Yes. The book adapts to whichever first day you are facing — preschool, pre-K, nursery, kindergarten or a move to a new school — and to a child returning after a summer as much as one starting for the first time.
Yes — it's a popular grandparent gift. The book is about your grandchild, and the dedication page carries your message to them.
Child-development experts agree on two things that ease the first-day transition: a predictable picture of what the day will look like, and a consistent goodbye ritual that reminds a child the people they love come back. This book delivers both — your child watches themself walk through the whole day, carried by your family's own goodbye ritual, and comes out proud. It's a practice run they can hold.
Yes. When the nervous child on page one has their face and their name, the brave child on the last page does too. Children engage longer and internalise the story more deeply when the hero is them — which is exactly what you want the week before kindergarten starts.
Those books are wonderful — and they star someone else. This one is illustrated from your photo, set at your child's actual school if you share its name, and built around your family's real goodbye and the things your child genuinely loves. It doesn't replace the classics; it's the one book where the brave kindergartner is unmistakably yours.
Right now it's the book that gets them ready. In ten years it's the record of the day the backpack was almost bigger than they were — what they were nervous about, who walked them in, the friend they made at playtime. Few milestones are this big and this easy to forget the details of.
The best starting-school gifts make the child feel brave and known. A personalized first-day book — starring them, their school, and their family's own special goodbye — does both: it eases the jitters before the day and becomes the keepsake of it after.
Share your child's name and photo, pick an edition (Explorer, Friendship, or Affirmation), and tell us the real details — who does drop-off, your special goodbye, and the things they're really into. The book is created from your answers. Preview the opening pages free, edit anything, and only pay when you love it.
