What families are saying about their personalized first birthday book

★★★★★

"I forgot half of it until I saw it written down."

We put in her favourite things and the little routines, and reading it back was the first time I realised how much of that year had already blurred.

Hannah

★★★★★

"The illustrations actually look like her."

I expected a generic cartoon baby. It came back looking like our daughter, which is the reason the grandparents all wanted a copy.

Daniel

★★★★★

"Better than another toy."

She got six presents at the party and this is the only one we still have out a year later. She brings it to us to read.

Questions people ask before choosing a personalized first birthday book

If you're looking for a meaningful first birthday gift, here's what to know about how a personalized first birthday book works, why it stands out, and why families choose it.

1

Why is a personalized first birthday book a gift worth keeping?

A first birthday is really a milestone for the parents as much as the baby — the baby won't remember it, and everyone else will. A personalized first birthday book turns that year into something readable: the favourite things, the songs, the little habits, the personality that appeared somewhere around month eight. Preview it free, then choose a PDF for $14.99 or a hardcover for $44.99.

2

What do you give a one-year-old who won't remember the day?

Most first birthday presents are for the party, not the child. Toys get outgrown within months. A book about their own first year is one of the few gifts that becomes more valuable as they get older — it's the year they can't remember, written down while the family still can.

3

What makes this different from other personalized baby gifts?

Most personalized baby gifts print a name on a template. This one is built from your actual answers — what they loved doing, the song that always calmed them, the moment you never want to forget — and illustrated from your photo, so the child in the book looks like your child.

4

Why does a first birthday book get better over time?

It gets read back to them at two, at five, and at fifteen. Parents describe it as a time capsule: the details you're certain you'll never forget are precisely the ones that fade first, and this pins them to a page while they're still fresh.

Quick Answers

Quick answers before you start

What is a good personalized first birthday gift?

A good first birthday gift outlasts the party. A personalized illustrated storybook captures the favourite things, little habits, and personality of their first year in a keepsake the whole family can revisit — rather than another toy that's outgrown by spring.

How does a personalized first birthday book work?

Answer a few questions about the baby and their first year, upload one clear photo, and choose a cover theme and art style. The book is generated around your answers. You can preview it for free, edit it, and only pay when you love it.

Who orders a first birthday book?

Mostly parents and grandparents, but it works for anyone marking the day — godparents, aunts and uncles, or a friend who wants to give something that isn't plastic. The story adapts to your details, so it feels personal whoever gives it.

Frequently asked questions about personalized first birthday books

Who is the first birthday book for?

It is for a baby turning one, told as the story of their first year. It is usually made by parents, and often by grandparents, godparents, aunts, and uncles who want to give something other than another toy. It is a keepsake for the family now and a book the child grows into later.

What can I personalize in the first birthday book?

Your baby's name, whether family joins them in the book, the cover theme and illustration style, plus the details of their year: what they loved doing, their favorite first foods, their favorite song, their personality, a favorite memory, and your hopes for their childhood. Small, specific details are what make it land. The song that always calmed them beats a sentence about loving music.

Do the illustrations really look like my baby?

The illustrations are drawn from the photo you upload, so the baby in the book is created to resemble your baby rather than a generic cartoon with their name attached. A clear photo with their face visible and no hats or sunglasses gives the best result. You can preview the book before you pay, and you can redraw an illustration or swap the photo if it is not right.

Can family be in the book too?

Yes. Choose whether it's just your baby or your baby with family, then tag who's who in your photo. Family members you tag join your baby on some pages.

What details should I share for the best story?

The more specific, the better. Instead of 'he likes music,' tell us 'he does a full-body wiggle every time the theme song comes on.' Those tiny, real details are what make the story magical.

Do you have a book for older birthdays too?

Yes. Once they're past one, our Kids' Birthday Book for ages 2 to 6 captures each new year, and many families make a new book every birthday.

Can I preview the book for free, and how much does it cost?

Creating and previewing your book is completely free — no account and no card needed. You read the whole book, page by page, and only pay if you want to keep it. A premium hardcover is $44.99 and the instant digital PDF is $14.99. Standard shipping is included in the hardcover price — the price you see is the total you pay. There is no subscription, and the version you approve is the version we print.

How soon will it get delivered?

Printing takes 4–5 business days, then the book ships. Orders to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and India typically arrive in 8–12 business days from the day you order. For other destinations the estimate for your address is shown at checkout. The digital PDF has no printing or shipping wait — it is delivered electronically shortly after purchase, which is the one to choose for a last-minute gift.

What size and quality is the printed book?

The hardcover is approximately 8.5 × 8.5 inches, printed on premium matte paper and bound as a keepsake meant to survive being read at bedtime for years.

What happens to my photos?

They are used only to illustrate your book. We do not sell them, we do not show them to anyone else, and we never use them to train AI models. Photos uploaded before you create an account are deleted automatically within 7 days. Once you have an account, uploads are held with your book so you can come back and finish it or order a reprint, and deleting your account deletes them. Email hello@celebrateally.com at any time and we will remove them sooner.

What if I need to cancel, or something is wrong with the book?

Email hello@celebrateally.com with your order number and we will sort it out. Cancelling: if your book has not entered production yet we will cancel it and refund you in full. Once it is at the printer we may not be able to stop it, but always ask and we will check. Damaged or misprinted: tell us within 30 days of delivery with a photo and we will reprint it free or refund you. You do not return the damaged book. Never arrived: if 30 days have passed since you ordered, choose a free reprint or a full refund — your call, no questions asked. Not happy with it: because you approve the finished book before paying, a printed book cannot usually be returned over a change of mind. But if the personalization or illustrations disappoint you, contact us within 30 days of delivery and tell us what to improve — we will correct it and send a replacement free, and if we cannot make it right we will refund you in full. You keep the original book either way.

Can I order more than one book?

Yes. You can order several copies of the same book — useful when grandparents want one too — and you can create as many different books as you like from one account. Each book is priced individually at $44.99 for a hardcover or $14.99 for a PDF, and each one is previewed and approved separately.

How to Choose a First Birthday Gift

The best first birthday gifts aren't the biggest or the most expensive. They are the ones the family still treasures long after the party.

🎁

Choose something personal, not generic

A gift built around this baby's first year, with their name, their favorite things, and the moments your family loved, means more than anything picked off a shelf.

✍️

Choose something that outlasts the party

Toys get outgrown within months. A keepsake is still on the shelf years later, ready to be read back to them.

💡

The favorite songs, first foods, and funny little habits change fast. The best gifts hold on to them before they fade.

The First Year Goes By in a Blink

One year. From a sleepy newborn to a giggling, babbling, almost-walking little person. It's the fastest, most transformative year of their whole life — and it's over before you've caught your breath.

The Little Things You Don't Want to Forget

The song that always calmed them. The first taste of banana and the face that followed. The game they wanted a hundred times a day. These moments happen quietly, and then they're memories.

Why it matters:

A first birthday book captures them in writing, so years from now you'll remember not just that they happened, but exactly how they felt.

They Changed So Much, So Fast

The newborn you brought home and the one-year-old blowing out a candle barely look like the same person. A whole personality emerged this year — their laugh, their stubbornness, their favorite games, the way they reach for you.

Why it matters:

The book freezes who they were at one: their size, their favorites, their funny habits. It's a snapshot of a version of them that's already changing.

Why a Book Beats Another Toy

A first birthday brings a pile of gifts the baby won't remember. But a book about THEIR first year — their favorite things, their real personality — becomes something the family reads together, and something they'll pull off the shelf when they're older.

Why it matters:

Parents who make these books say the same thing: the toys were forgotten by the next week, but the book gets read again and again.

The Start of a Tradition

Imagine a shelf with a birthday book for every year of their life — and it all starts here, with the year they turned one. They'll be able to see themselves grow up, page by page, year by year.

Why it matters:

Starting at the first birthday means by the time they can read, they'll have the whole story of their early childhood, beginning with year one.

Preserving the Year That Flew By

We built this book because the first year moves too fast. The firsts, the favorites, the tiny habits — they change every month, and memory alone can't hold it all. A personalized first birthday book isn't just a keepsake. It's a love letter from you to them, written at the end of the most magical year.

Why We Built This

CelebrateAlly was started with the mission to make celebrations more meaningful and personalized. A baby's first year is full of moments worth remembering — the firsts, the favorites, the funny little habits. Our mission is to help you capture that first year and turn it into something the whole family will hold onto forever. Because they won't be this little again, but their story can last a lifetime.

We don't replace your voice — we amplify it. You provide the firsts, the favorites, the details only a parent knows. We weave them into a story with the craft of a children's book author and the warmth of a bedtime story. Every word is reviewed and editable.

🔒

Privacy is Personal

Your baby's photos and memories are yours alone. We never use your data to train models, sell to third parties, or share with anyone. Photos of children are handled with the highest level of care, processed securely and deleted after your book is created. Your baby's story stays your family's story.
